Series of Artworks

Created between 2022-2025

This series is an interplay between what can be seen and what cannot be seen. As an abstract expressionist artist, I began using found imagery to create the minimal combinations of line, shape and textures necessary to project certain forms. My recent work has been very challenging, as I limit myself to certain found images to project one idea over another using acrylic and collage on canvas. These works of multilayered and abstracted images illustrate the different choices behind my personal artistic style and aesthetic. The abstract mark making is a type of language that holds my identity and has a social agency separate from myself. However, the found imagery makes this translation more complicated than a simple manifestation of my gestural movements. In a continuous exploration of unconventional materials, my practice is accessibility focused, heavy in prolonged contemplation and rooted in a meticulous, yet, chaotic technique.
