Meet Brenna Tomas

interdisciplinary female artist, recreation therapist, writer and mother born and raised in the Robinson-Huron treaty territory of Ontario, Canada, Baawaating, now called Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

 

started arts practice at the age of 26 while living in her parents basement and expecting her daughter.  art took over when she found her brothers old art supplies in the closet and from there, she began obsessively training her artistic skillset in order to find new ways to communicate and express herself.

graduated with a diploma in Recreation Therapy from Canadore College in 2010, obtained her undergraduate degree with distinction in Art History and Studio Arts at Concordia University in the Spring of 2020 and completed her Masters degree in Education at the University of Ottawa in the Summer of 2022.

portfolio of artwork has earned her a position as a finalist for the Salt Spring National Art Prize for 2023/2024 and her work in arts writing has been published by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2021 and Concordia University in 2020.
